THE SUPER HERO’s: Charlie (The Incredible Hulk) is 10 years old and being supported by Louise (Superwoman).
Charlie has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and epilepsy. Charlie’s condition affects his communication, fine motor skills and his mobility.
Charlie has teamed up with CL Medilaw’s very own, Louise to complete the challenge.
Over the next month they aim to both complete at least 20km, Louise will be running and Charlie will be doing this with his walker and powerchair and the amazing support of his mum, dad and twin brother!
SUPER POWERS: Charlie’s superpower is his incredible strength and resilience – he is a fighter and he also has an amazing smile. Louise’s superpower is lightening speed, which is coming in handy for this challenge!
CHOSEN CHARITY: As a team, they are raising money for Tree of Hope. Tree of Hope is a crowdfunding charity that helps children and young people with a disability or illness by supporting their families to raise the money they need to pay for specialist care that is not freely available through the UK healthcare system.
MOTIVATION: Charlie is taking part in this challenge to give him focus during the lockdown, to improve his strength and to bring in much needed money for his physiotherapy to enable him to continue building strength. Louise is taking part because she feels that supporting our families is integral to what we do at CL Medilaw and she loves any excuse to get into fancy dress!
Charlie has already got off to a flying start having walked a cracking 1.35km in his power chair on day 1! By day 2, he had completed 26 lengths of his garden in his walker. Louise clearly had some catching up to do if she was to keep up with Charlie’s amazing progress, running over 20km in her superwoman costume!
